Week 6 Exp1 Final submission

The live feed that I chose was the radiation variation data from Japan. The idea was to link the concept of Pure War with the variation of the radiation and how people fix the radiation problem. The concept of the installation was that the environment was becoming worse and worse due to the nuclear crisis in Japan and the people in there are still trying to fix it.

The lower part of the design is trying to present a distorted environment to reflect how important the radiation problem is by using a few glows and flowgraphs. At the middle part of the model is showing you the people are trying to fix the radiation, fight for the environment. The main concept of the model is to create a closed space to let you have a sense of feeling you are surrounded or something is pressing you just like the radiation in the real-time environment. Using the triangular shape structure to surround the room, and the moving bargraph is showing the radiation variations. The last part is a stair leads to the upper floor, it means the war isn’t finished yet, still have a long way to go.

The texture that I chose is for incorporating the current context, the model is inspired by the Colosseum, the entrance and the exits are curved stairs to represent a constant cycle to reflect the notion of the Pure War – the war will never stop.

I tried to clean the user interface by following the tutorial on the blog, but failed, don't know why, it just doesn't work.

The flowgraphs were developed around the ideas of showing the variation of the radiation in the real time environment. The live feed from Pachube is reflected into the this installation, the elements glow, objects moving and changing opacity are representing the influence of the radiation, for instance, the moving lights, circular object along the stairs, the radiation spots - the triangular structures.
